A Service Dog for Nico

Donation protected
Nine-year old Nico has autism and struggles with regulating his emotions and his behaviors. He can also often struggle with social interactions, including  with his peers. Given these challenges, we believe that a service dog could change his life and our lives as it would provide companionship for him, keep him safe, help reduce dangerous meltdowns, and keep him from wandering.

Typically, autism service dogs cost between $35,000 and $50,000 to train, so we did not think we could afford to get one for Nico. But, recently we learned that our family has been chosen as the 2021 project family for Dawgs2Heal (https://dawgs2heal.com/ ), an organization that trains and places autism service dogs with families for a fraction of the normal cost. It is a tremendous opportunity for Nico and for our family!

We are trying to raise $10,000 to cover one-fourth of the cost of the dog. If we can to raise the money, we will be able to bring one of these precious puppies home to be a support and friend for Nico. If we happen to raise more than $10,000, we will use the money to help us pay for the care of the dog. Beyond that, we will donate the money back to Dawgs2Heal.

We hope you will consider contributing and/or sharing this with your friends!

With love,
