A single mom, car accident, monthly bills

Katie’s journey won’t fully end until Next year by the time it’s fully healed. But she said she should be walking without support maybe by June or July and start work hopefully soon after that!! God is good!

Hi, my name is Selena. My sister is Katie. She and her 2 lovely girls live near Palatka. Katie is a single mom, who's worked incredibly hard to work as a medical assistant (CMA) full-time and obtain a home to rent, a car, etc... She's been doing awesome.

Well, life took a halt on Thursday morning. She and her girls were involved in a car accident due to a smoke-covered road in the area. Her girls are ok. Her car is totaled. Katie on the other hand has about 9 weeks to 6 months of recovery. She sustained a broken ankle in three places. Had emergency surgery to place screws and plates in her ankle.

She will have a long road to recovery for six to eight weeks if no weight bearing on her foot, and will need to try and return to work when possible.

I'd like to be able to take some financial stress of rent and utilities off her plate since she'll be out of work for a bit. Her rent and bills total about $850/month. Anything we can raise to assist with the time missed at work will help ensure she can continue to stay in her home.

She'll need to begin to work on new transportation as well, so if anyone has leads on a decent vehicle, that would be awesome as well! But let's start with a place to continue to live first.
