A Small and Kinda Broken Family Needs Some More Help

It's coming up on two years since I was laid off from my role in the tech industry. And with the contraction of legit companies in favor of the latest "AI" nonsense, the way that generative AI has completely broken the hiring and application processes across all industries, and the limitations imposed on my employment options by my disability, I am still out of work. And as our credit cards have filled up for a variety of unavoidable issues, and our earlier plans for alternative employment did not pan out, I am once again asking for whatever help people can provide.

My partner and I are both disabled, my partner significantly moreso than I am, and while we've been managing to a degree on my SSDI benefits, some limited assistance from family members, and some earlier donation drives, we've incurred a number of large medical and veterinary bills, putting us in a precarious financial position. In addition, my partner suffers from severe PTSD, and has experienced both homelessness and starvation, so this situation is very literally a trauma trigger for them; being able to reduce our debt to manageable levels will help keep them safe and healthy. Also, our dog has a vet visit tomorrow because his back problems are flaring up again, which is another reason that I'm trying to get a grip on our credit card debt, because we don't know how much this is going to end up costing us this time.

Once again, I'm going to be sharing this in a few different places, and I'm using GoFundMe since I can maintain some anonymity with it. That said:

Who Are We?

I am an old tech nerd (started out on the TI-99/4A when I was about nine) who is psychologically disabled, and my parter is a slightly younger artist who has ADHD and, as noted, severe PTSD. I post on cohost and sometimes tumblr as @apocryphalmess, while my partner is taking a break from social media for mental health reasons. We prefer to not share photos of ourselves because our particular damage makes that difficult.

On the other hand, this is Benzo, our little man who was diagnosed this years with IVDD, a kind of vertebral disorder that some dogs suffer from, but which we're hoping to be able to manage without surgery. He's a Chi/Rat Terrier mix, and he doesn't mind us sharing photos of him online . He was supposed to be a therapy dog but who turned out to be his own little bundle of trauma responses. He gets away with everything because he's adorable and clever.

What Is Our Situation?

We have a couple of credit cards that are dangerously close to being maxed out, which is why I'm setting this Gofundme goal higher that I have previously. I don't know if people really need evidence, but since the internet is filled with scammers these days:
