A Son's Request for Help for His Mom, Cindy Cox

Hi everyone,

I've never been the type to ask for help. I've always been proud of how my mom has handled everything, and I've seen her go through some of the hardest battles a person can face without ever asking anyone for anything. But today, I'm swallowing my pride and reaching out for help on behalf of the most incredible woman I know—my mom.

For eight years, she's been fighting a debilitating autoimmune disease that's robbed her of so much—her health, her strength, and her ability to do the things she loves. On top of that, we were forced out of our home because of a black mold infestation, and recently, she got a chronic Lyme disease diagnosis, with co-infections that have made everything worse. Through all of it, she's tried to keep everything together for us. She's always been the rock in our family.

But the truth is, my mom is exhausted. Her body is breaking down. The pain she endures every single day has gotten unbearable. She's struggled to walk around the block with me—something that used to be so easy for her—but now even that is a painful challenge. I've watched her hide it all from the world because she doesn't want anyone to see her as weak or needy, but I can see it. We all can.

She's done everything she can think of to try to get better. She's been to top doctors, tried alternative treatments, and even gone on a personal journey to understand how trauma affects health. Still, she's fighting an uphill battle. With all the medical expenses—insurance premiums, co-pays, out-of-pocket costs—and the fact that she can't work much at all, we're now in a really tough spot. She's self-employed, so when she's too sick to work, she doesn't make money.

She recently had treatments that cost $30,000, which we had to borrow money for because insurance wouldn't cover it. And now, the doctors are saying she needs another round of treatments, totaling $60,000—and once again, insurance won't help. My mom has always been the one to take care of us, but right now, she needs help.

It's hard for her to ask for help, but she finally agreed to let me set up this fundraiser. I'm asking for any support you can offer—whether it's a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing this with others who might be able to help. The goal is to raise enough money to cover her medical bills and the treatments she needs to get better so she can live without pain, and do the basic things most people take for granted—like cooking dinner, getting a good night's sleep, or even simply opening a water bottle.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you've ever been touched by my mom's kindness or strength, or if you've seen the way she's cared for me and my sisters, I know she'd appreciate any support, no matter how big or small. Your prayers and generosity mean the world to us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
