a South Bend family in need

Hello! My name is Shelby Carroll and I am honored to be the big sister to Ka'maya (10) through the Big Brother Big Sister program. Ka'maya lives here in South Bend with her mom, Lisa, and sisters, Micahia (16) and Elyciandra (8).

Two weeks ago, Lisa and the girls were kicked out of the home they are renting because the Department of Housing condemned the house due to dangerous electrical issues in the house. The landlord has refused to fix any of these issues. The girls have been staying in different hotels thanks to the generosity of St. Vincent de Paul and other organizations. Unfortunately, those funds have run out and the girls need OUR HELP!

Lisa is working tirelessly to keep the girls happy and healthy, but as you can imagine, this is difficult since they are only eating food they can heat up in a microwave. Lisa is currently unemployed and looking for a job and providing for the girls using food stamps.

Please make a donation to Ka'maya and her family as they are struggling to keep afloat. The money will go to daily expenses like food, hotel costs, and ultimately, to help them put a deposit down on a new apartment or home. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated.

One of my favorite things about Ka'maya is her curiosity and optimism. She is the most amazing kid and I am so lucky she is in my life. She needs help and I hope you will join me in helping this very deserving family.
