Movie date for visible minority kids & families

Dear Friends,

We are thrilled to partner with Centre for Newcomers, Councillor Courtney Walcott, and Councillor Kourtney Penner to organize a private screening of the new live-action Little Mermaid movie for visible minority children and their parents. We aim to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for these children to enjoy the movie and feel a sense of belonging.

Representation matters, and this event is an opportunity to celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity. By showcasing positive role models on the big screen, we can help these children develop a strong sense of self-worth and inspire them to achieve their full potential.

However, we cannot do it alone. We need your help to raise funds to cover the costs of the event, including theatre rental, snacks, and other expenses. Every little bit helps, and your donation will contribute to creating a magical experience for visible minority children who might not otherwise have the chance to see themselves represented on the big screen.

PS: Due to the unfortunate controversy (LINK) surrounding the release of this movie, we will not be sharing the theatre location or the screening date and time. This is done to ensure the safety of all participants.

100% of the funds will go towards the cost of the tickets and refreshments for the attendees.

All excess funds will be donated to Centre for Newcomers.
