A St. Helens 'They Live' Trump Billboard!
Donation protected
Our ‘street art’ goal is to have this ‘VOTE/OBEY’ image erected on a 10’ x 30’ billboard alongside the 30 in St. Helens, Oregon in time for Halloween and the Elections.
Artist, Mitch O'Connell, originally drew this parody in 2015 for a horror film festival featuring the John Carpenter classic “They Live”. If you haven’t seen the movie, the basic set up is that both the media and the government are comprised of subliminal messages meant to keep the population subdued, and that most of the social elite are skull-faced aliens bent on world domination.
Since its creation the art has taken off on its own! It’s been up at Times Square in New York, it’s been tattooed, painted on buildings, put on protest signs and bootlegged on just about anything and everything.
Even John Carpenter himself is a fan! And Mitch O’Connell has given us permission to use his parody design to put up a billboard of our own for St. Helens, Oregon. Hopefully by having this billboard on display it'll inspire creative expression and encourage more people to get involved with politics.
• (Completed) goal of $1,000, to print and install the ‘They Live’ Trump billboard for the first 4 weeks, beginning early October.
• Our new goal is $1,600, which will extend the display of the billboard for an additional 4 weeks, beginning early September.
Donations are appreciated from everyone willing to help. Thank you for your support.
**Billboard Rate: $600 /4wks Production Cost: $400 print & Install**
