A thank you to The Christie’s
Donation protected
As a tribute to our mum, we have decided that as a family we would like to raise money to donate to all those at The Christie's. We haven't set a real target, mum wouldn't want it. If you can spare anything, it all will mean the absolute world to her memory.
Anybody that knew mum or knows her story will understand how highly she thought of them, everybody from the man she called her hero Dr. Misra to the staff in canteen. She was a celebrity, a woman who touched the hearts & souls of anybody she met there. Whether it was a chat at reception, treatment or even the car park - mum could talk (& talk some more). She would love nothing more than her memory to be remembered by doing as much for them all as possible.
For 11 years she battled cancer. From breast cancer in 2012, which she beat & beat it with her head always high. From the moment she started receiving chemotherapy the first time round & telling staff she "didn't have time to have cancer", we knew & they knew her strength & determination.
After being in remission for 3 years, mum was dealt the news that her cancer had returned but this time metastatic (bone). She was given a life expectancy of 3-5 years but challenged it and made it 8 years down to her strength, the consultants and nurses at Christie's doing the absolute most they could for her right until the very end. Mum and us included owe everything to the Christie's for giving us the opportunity to have more time. They are the hero's we needed.
She was unmatched in her ability to manage the stresses she encountered daily in continuing to work, to socialise & run a household with the same iron fist she always did!
She will forever be our hero, our mum, our partner & our best friend all at the same time.
