Celebrating the Life of Jonathan Manley
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved, one-of-a-kind, larger than life friend, Jonathan Manley, who died in a hang gliding accident while doing what he loved most: soaring through the skies, chasing adventure. We are fundraising to help cover the costs of his service and funeral expenses.
Jonathan was a true Renaissance man, a rare and incredible soul who lived life with unparalleled passion, curiosity, and heart. An adventurer through and through, he was a skilled pilot, an avid hang glider, a dedicated mountain biker, bicycle tourist, traveler, hiker, and outdoorsman. Whether he was exploring trails, off roading, speaking foreign languages, flying above mountaintops, or sharing his latest culinary creation, Jonathan embraced every moment with an infectious enthusiasm that inspired everyone around him.
He didn’t just love adventure—he lived it. One of our most memorable experiences together was riding our bicycles from Arizona all the way to the Panama Canal. That journey illustrated his grit, spirit, and insatiable curiosity about the world. Every mile was filled with laughter, meaningful conversations, and unforgettable stories that I will treasure forever.
Professionally, Jonathan was a brilliant and accomplished attorney who served as an Assistant Attorney General, making a meaningful impact in his field. His journey to law school was one of dedication and perseverance, fueled by his desire to make a difference. But beyond his remarkable career, Jonathan was so much more—a philosopher at heart, a gifted storyteller, and a lover of animals, especially his cherished dogs over the years who were his constant companions.
Jonathan had an incredible gift for bringing people together with his wit, humor, and genuine warmth. He had a knack for seeing the best in everyone and accepting each of us exactly as we are, without judgment. He was the kind of friend who would drop everything in a heartbeat to lend a hand, offer a listening ear, or just be there when you needed him. His loyalty, kindness, and vibrant spirit made him truly one of a kind.
Jonathan lived life to the fullest, and his adventurous spirit taught us all how to truly embrace every day. Whether he was hosting friends at his cabin, sharing a philosophical debate over a glass of wine, or diving into a new hobby with characteristic zeal, Jonathan’s energy and joy were contagious. He didn’t just live life—he lived it well.
Now, as we face this indescribable loss, we are coming together to honor his incredible legacy. We are raising funds to plan a celebration of life that truly reflects Jonathan’s vibrant and adventurous spirit, as well as to cover funeral expenses. Any additional funds will be donated to a charity close to Jonathan’s heart, as chosen by his family.
Per Jonathan's family's wishes, this is the only official GoFundMe for Jonathan’s funeral and celebration of life. We want to ensure that we give him the farewell he deserves, while also helping his family during this difficult time.
Jonathan Manley wasn’t just an amazing adventurer, outdoorsman, and attorney—he was the most incredible friend, a loving soul who touched so many lives. He showed us what it means to live boldly, love deeply, and leave the world a little brighter.
Please join us in celebrating Jonathan’s extraordinary life by contributing to this fund and/or his celebration of life. Every donation, no matter the size, will help us honor a man who meant so much to so many.
Thank you for your love and support. Jonathan may be gone, but his legacy of kindness, adventure, and joy will live on in all of us.
With incredible gratitude,
Jonathan's Friends & Family
