a Ukrainian refugee family come to the USA
Please help us to bring another Ukrainian family to the United States for safety and to start a new life.
The family is Vladimir Oreshkin (age 41), his wife Inna (age 39) and their boys Nikita (age 14) and Bogdan (age 11). They are from the Donetsk region in Ukraine, which was the nearest city to the area occupied by Russia in 2014, but was overrun in 2022 by the Russian troops.
They had lived in a private house and independently engaged in farming, raising poultry, quails, chickens, ducks, geese, starting from the incubation process. They did not buy meat and eggs in the store.
Both parents are attorneys, but they know they will not be able to practice law here in the USA. Vladimir worked in government agencies, has a total experience of public service for 19 years and has 3 higher educations (lawyer, state personnel management, teacher). For the last 9 years he has been working as the head of the education department in the city that was in charge of 35 educational institutions. Currently, none of them remain. All buildings were destroyed by the war. All students of their city left and continue to study remotely. Inna worked at a coal mine as a lawyer for 17 years. (Obviously, skilled and hard-working people.)
In February 2022, after the invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine, they were forced to leave their home in the Donetsk region, moving to the city of Dnipro, the site of some huge battles. In June 2022 they moved to Kiev, where they are now. In the past few months, rocket attacks have intensified throughout Ukrtna, including in Kyiv. This happens every day, and sometimes several times a day. Rockets fly at night from 01:00 to 05:00 in the morning. Therefore, they were forced to make a difficult decision for their family to move to the United States.
Inna has a younger brother Gleb who has been defending our country in the war and serving in the armed forces of Ukraine since February. Her mom and dad and Vladimir’s widowed mother who are retired also had to leave their homes to temporarily (hopefully) live in a safer Ukrainian city.
Both boys attend football (“soccer” here in the USA) clubs currently in Kyiv representing their teams in domestic championships. The entire family enjoys cycling.
We have an experienced sponsorship group to assist them (sponsored three families before through the humanitarian parole program) upon their arrival in Minneapolis on October 5. We have found that it takes a minimum of 3-4 months of support before the families are self-sufficient. The funds raised are used for the first month's rent, deposit, transportation, food, clothing, household goods and the like.
Please donate what you can to help this deserving family make a good start in the USA to become contributing residents here.
Thank you!
