A Van for Chris Schechner

Our good friend Chris Schechner, who has been a quadriplegic and in a manual wheelchair for 50 years, is entering a new phase of mobility needs.

Chris is the type of guy that, despite his disability, would do anything for anyone. Chris has a giant heart and loves well...from showing up at the hospital to visit sick friends, letting people in transition live in his spare bedroom rent-free, or always having a quick joke or cartoon to make people laugh.

Now it’s our turn to show some love for Chris.

Chris has recently acquired a power wheelchair that will help ease the stress of movement and eliminate frequent transferring. But the power wheelchair requires Chris to get a new van, as his current vehicle only accommodates a manual wheelchair lift.

As you can imagine, a converted van is quite pricey. The cost for the one Chris needs is $36,000. While it would be wonderful to raise enough money to cover the entire cost of the van, we would like to raise a minimum of $10,000 to help defray the cost for Chris.
