A Van for Keith Coffey
Donation protected
Keith Coffey is a retired Firefighter/Paramedic who served the communities of Wrightwood and Rialto for 20 years. In August of 2009, Keith suffered an accident while training for the Fire/Police Motocross Race leaving him paralyzed from the nipple line down. Keith was forced to retire early from his firefighting career.
With help from his family, friends, fire family, and community he was able to adjust to his new challenges while continuing to raise his children. Being paralyzed didn’t stop him from continuing to serve his community, and he found a way to to coach Little League and youth football. Keith continues to help his friends and family, and he also helps care for his grandbabies.
It has been 12 years since his accident, and the wear and tear of pushing his wheelchair, transferring, and everyday living has caused irreversible damage to his arms and elbows. This has made it nearly impossible to travel anywhere without generating a week of pain and recovery time. As a T4 paraplegic, Keith's arms are all he has left and his way of life.
Keith is not one to ask for help. It's time to help someone who has spent his life and career helping others. His family would like to raise money for a handicap accessible van so that he can live a more normal life and not be confined to his house. This will open opportunities to go to his doctors appointments, visit family, and lead a more independent life without excessive damage to his arms. The goal is to get Keith a van that he can easily roll into and even drive himself!
