A wheelchair for Bobbi
Donation protected
Our daughter, Bobbi, who has cerebral palsy and underwent major orthopedic surgery in November of 2018, goes out every day the weather is good to practice walking in her walker on the path in front of our home. She parks her chair at the bottom of our driveway, transfers to her walker and goes to the end of the block and back. Yesterday, while she was walking, someone stole her wheel chair from where it was waiting for her at the bottom of our driveway!
Without her wheelchair, she has no way of getting around on her own. Without it, she can not even get in and out of her bedroom on her own anymore! It was a chair that was made to fit her specific needs.
We are in the very early stages of looking into whether or not her medical insurance will cover the cost of a replacement chair, but typically, chairs are only covered once every five years and her chair was only three years old.
In the unlikely event that we do end up getting the replacement chair through insurance or the original chair is returned to us, we would donate any funds that are raised to Joni and Friends Wheels for the World .
