Help Me Bring a Mother and Child to Safety

I’m Michelle Faye, Independent Candidate for McPherson and a dedicated Domestic Violence Advocate. I am urgently working to bring an Australian mother and her young child home after years of severe coercive control, domestic abuse and stalking. Despite clear and repeated warnings to police, social services and safeguarding professionals, systemic failures in the UK have left them trapped in a life-threatening situation with no safety.

The UK family courts, social services, CAFCASS and police have ignored overwhelming evidence of abuse, allowing the perpetrator to use the legal system to maintain control. This mother has been subjected to years of litigation abuse, with court orders weaponised against her to restrict her ability to protect her child. This includes prohibiting both mother and child from seeing family and friends back home in Australia and threatening imprisonment if Mother tried to flee. Despite 13 police crime reference numbers, four MARACs (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences), and a homicide-level risk classification, the courts continue to prioritise the abuser’s rights over the child’s safety.

To make matters worse, her Australian immigration status in the UK has left her with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), meaning she has been denied access to financial support, domestic violence refuges and emergency accommodation. Even after providing extensive evidence of risk, she was declined support under the Migrant Victims of Domestic Abuse Concession (MVDAC), leaving her and her child with no state protection.

This is a clear failure of duty by the UK system, which has placed impossible barriers in their way and kept them trapped in an unsafe environment. I am doing everything I can to get them home to Australia, where they can finally be safe and receive the support they desperately need.
