A Woman Who Has Given All of Herself...

I'm Sarah Hahn, daughter of the decedent and I am speaking on behalf of my family (my brother, Victor Hahn, and my Father, Michael Hahn). My mother, Peggy Dearing Hahn, was a wonderful woman. She was made of love and shared that love with all who encountered her. She taught me to be a kind and wonderful human who is empathetic to the needs of those around me. My mother volunteered her time and love to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, MO. She fostered many dogs and puppies, ensuring their adoptions were wonderful experiences for the animals and the humans taking them in. She even kept up with many of them. She would send me and my brother photos that her adopters would share with her, keeping her up to date with the wellbeing and growth of the dogs and puppies she helped them connect to.
If you knew Peggy, you knew true love. After gaining her own sobriety in 2005, she began sponsoring others to help them on their own journey. She was always there to help her sponsees with all the difficult choices and times in their lives. She would do anything for any of them. I remember once, she gave all of my saved Barbies to the child of one of her sponsees because she felt that the woman's daughter would benefit from having them.
Giving isn't easy in our world, but after my grandfather passed away in 2013, I watched her give every physical dollar she had to a man on the side of the road who was in need. It never occurred to her that she might need any of that money. She just immediately handed it off when she saw him.
With all this said, my wonderful, caring mother, who taught me so much in this life, has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly as of August 10, 2022. We are left to pick up the pieces, go through the proper channels with her estate, cremation (per her wishes), and all of the incurred costs that go along with this. We are not yet certain how much it will cost us for all of this. We will likely incur fees from the attorney we will need to hire to work through probate court. Any donations will be so very helpful. If we receive beyond what is necessary for the costs associated with her death, we will donate the remainder to Stray Rescue, as that would be her wish.
At this time, we are not planning a public memorial for her, but in the coming days, weeks, or months, that may change. We realize that many people in this world loved her dearly and would love closure and congregation to celebrate the life and love she created, but we are taking our time to grieve this tremendous loss in our lives.
