A Wrinkle In Time 4 Flint Kids
Donation protected
Greetings World. Most you already know me, my name is Mari Copeny, I am ten years old and from Flint, Michigan. Im a GoFundMe Kid Hero. The world has come to know me as Little Miss Flint and my team #TeamMari has been working to make sure kids in Flint are not forgotten. And now #TeamMari is back with another goal.
In Augst of 2017 we teamed up with the nonprofit Pack Your Back to help raise over $10,000 which helped provide 1,000 students in Flint with backpacks stuffed with school supplies.
In December of 2017 we again teamed up with Pack Your Back again to put on a one of kind Christmas Event. I alone raised $18,000!! We helped 500 kids in Flint have an an amazing Christmas with a Christmas party that even included a slime making station. Every kid walked away with 3 toys, a stocking stuffed with school supplies, a backpack and even more. We did this all with no corporate sponsers. We were even able to donate over 100 toys to the local childrens hospital.
This past week #TeamMari was able to raise $16,000 for the #BlackPantherChallenge, we were able to buy out an entire theater that seated 150+ kids, every kid that left got a #DearFlintKids project letter, a comic book featuring a hero of color, and special treat. We also gave out exclusive black panther shirts and thousands of dollars of black panther toys and merchendise. Over the opening weekend we also were able to help another 650 kids see Black Panther by giving out movie gift cards and paying for admission.

My #DearFlintKids project has recieved over 3000 letters of positive encouragment for Flint Kids with the goal of making sure every single kid in Flint receives a letter letting them know how amazing they are and the world has not forgotten about them.
Next up we have the movie "A Wrinkle In Time" coming out. Directed by Ava DuVernay and starring Storm Reid and Oprah. With the release date of March 9th we have a little over 2 weeks to make this happen so Flint kids can experience the magic of A Wrinkle In Time.
Not often do you see a black girl as the star of a movie, let alone the one who saves the world. I want little girls to be able to watch this movie and be able to see themselves and the potential that they can "save the world" as well.
This cast is packed with smart strong women and it is important for young girls to see these images reepresented in all forms of media, espcially on the big screen. A little girl that looks like me is saving the universe.....thats not something we see every day (even though it should be).
In addition to the movie I want to make sure every single child that sees this movie walks away with the novel "A Wrinkle In Time" because books not only take us to places unknown, they empower us to be whatever we want to be. If we raise enough I would also like to give out some of the other A Wrinkle In Time STEAM books that have been hitting shelves in bookstores across America.
Even though this is a fantasy movie the idea to dream big and be a hero are there and I want Flint Kids to be able to experience this on the big screen.
Thank you for always supporting me and supporting #FlintKids
