A Young Family In Need of a Fresh Start!

Hi, my name is Chris Moyer and I am raising money for my great-niece, Valerie Ybarra.

I'm reaching out to family and friends to ask that you consider chipping in to help Valerie, her boyfriend Francisco, and their nine-month-old baby Frankie, get a fresh start. I had the opportunity to see Valerie this past week, while I was visiting California. While it was wonderful to see her, I was sad to hear that they are going through a tough time right now.

Valerie has had a very challenging few years. Three years ago her grandfather, my brother Bud passed away. A year later, her mother Janet died from complications from Covid, and then, just this past year, her father Perry passed away. Despite all of this loss and hardship, Valerie has managed to remain grounded and has grown into a very level-headed and responsible young woman.

Last year, Val gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Frankie. She and the baby’s father Francisco, live together and have a very supportive and loving relationship. Francisco works full-time at a restaurant and Val works at the same restaurant part-time as a hostess, when Francisco is home with the baby. Neither of them has immediate family that they can turn to, which makes the inevitable life challenges that come along as a young family, especially more difficult. They are currently living in an apartment that they can no longer afford. The money that they have is going to rent, but they are barely getting by and can’t get ahead. They are worried about getting evicted and are scrambling to find a place that is more affordable in a safe neighborhood and need help coming up with enough money to help them with this transition.

Valerie very reluctantly asked me for some help. She and Francisco are both very private and uncomfortable with reaching out. I was impressed by their strong work ethic and humility. Unfortunately, I am not able to afford to give them enough money to cover their costs of relocating. Valerie comes from a very large extended family of generous and loving people. If we all give what we can, it will make quite a difference in this family’s lives. After talking at length with her, I thought $3,500 should cover the first and last month’s rent in a new place and cover the security deposit. They will be grateful for any help at all.
