Help the Donovan's

Well, it's been a year of surprises and challenges. If you know us, you know how much change we have gone through in the past year. It's not been easy but we are blessed. As I type this, I'm reminded of how much I have to give thanks for. This is hard but we are ok! I'm not quick to ask for help generally and we will be fine. Yet, I do know that we have many people out there on our side who could and would help if asked and this is our humble request. Not out of desperation. If you can't give, please don't feel pressure. If you have more important things to give to, please give there. If you cant support us, know that we greatly appreciate it.

The situation is this: We've recently moved to Ontario as I've accepted a new job that required us to move and we are grateful for it. They have been amazing and supported our move amazingly.

We didn't see this coming this year though, and weren't really prepared for it. I had a four year contract by my last employer in July of last year and things seemed really stable and going well. I was on track to graduate from my doctorate, get a raise, rest from the stress of all that extra work and life was supposed to calm down, Amy had even been accepted into school to advance her own career and things were looking great.... but it didn't happen that way. Things went crazy. We had to sell our home after a tree fell and destroyed our back yard... we had to find a new house in Ottawa (not cheap is an understatement). But with many great people supporting us and helping us out we have made it work, if just barely.

Which leads to now. Just over the past two days I've taken both of our vehicles into the garage to be safety inspected which is required to move a vehicle into a new province and to get insurance blah blah blah.... BOTH of these vehicles passed a safety inspecting in NB by the same garage in July. It seemed like a simple thing to do and move on.

BUT; I took the first car, our main one, in and found out it's likely simply worthless now. It's probably beyond repair and I have to accept that. So we brought in the second one hoping it would be minor repairs or pass so we could at least have one working car in Ontario. It did not pass at all. In fact that's what this is about. It needs about $5000-$6000 worth of work to pass inspection in Ontario. Is the car worth repairing?? Maybe, maybe not. That's a tough call we still have to consider. But what we do know is that we either need to repair this one, and buy a second car or buy two cars which is totally out of the question... for now we at least need one!

The funds we raise here will be going to help us either repair the second vehicle or to purchase something newer and reliable in Ontario and get ONE car on the road ASAP. Unfortunately we don't have long to decide.

Any help would be appreciated. Even wisdom, advice, and prayers are welcomed if you can't give.
