Help with ongoing medical expenses
Donation protected
Hi friends,
On behalf of Tabitha Patton and her 11yr old son, Anthony, we are starting this fundraiser to help with ongoing medical expenses.
Over a year ago Anthony was diagnosed with a Lytic bone lesion at the base of his skull. This has caused pain and mobility issues and unfortunately even after the initial surgery, the lesion has continued to grow, disintegrating multiple vertebrae in his neck. It's become imperative to move forward with another surgery. Because of the complexity, the only hospital that will attempt this is Children's Hospital Utah. This is an extremely rare location for this lesion and a high risk surgery. In the upcoming weeks Anthony and his parents will be traveling to Utah so Anthony can undergo major surgery in an attempt to block his main artery to his brain, remove the lesion (tumor) and rebuild his vertebraes with a special device and fuse the remaining vertebraes to this device.
This will be 3 separate surgeries in the first week and 3-4 weeks of recovery at Children's Hospital following the surgeries.
Once back home it's another 6 months of recovery and rehab. At this point, the family is unaware of what exactly insurance is going to cover because it's so extensive with the device being used to support his head. It's been made clear it will not cover a good portion. Right now the family is concerned with expenses related to the care after Anthony is home, potentially needing a wheelchair, in home nurse care, and rehab. During the 4-6 weeks in Utah and arriving back home to settle in, there will be no income to support the family (4 other children).
Friends of the family would like to help ease some of this stress and strain so Anthony's parents can concentrate on him completely. Any donation would be received with much gratitude, however if this isn't an option, sharing this fundraiser would also be so appreciated!
