The Muir Family

We are reaching out to you on behalf of Shawn and Melodie, a loving couple facing an incredibly challenging time in their lives. On March 12th 2024, Melodie was diagnosed with Leukemia, and 8 days later, Shawn was diagnosed with colon cancer that has metastasized to his liver. Their journey through treatment has been nothing short of daunting. They are parents to three wonderful children, Ashley, Michael and Matthew, not to mention that Matthew requires around-the-clock care due to his diverse needs.

Currently, Melodie is preparing for a stem cell transplant at Princess Margaret Hospital in August, which will require her to be away from home for over three months. While Melodie is undergoing her transplant she will require to be on the transplant unit for 4-6 weeks, followed by staying at the PMH lodge for 8 weeks, where her oldest daughter Ashley will be her 24/7 caregiver. Michael will be returning to university in September, and Shawn will be undergoing his own intensive treatment or by then, surgery. The financial burden of medical bills, travel expenses to and from the hospital, accommodation, and ongoing care for their son has been overwhelming for their family.

As friends and family, we are rallying together to support Shawn, Melodie, and their children during this challenging time. These funds will help cover the costs of travel, accommodation near the hospital, medical expenses not covered by insurance, and the specialized care Matthew requires.
