Justice for Jasper

Hello, I'm Elaine. My Great Pyrenees Jasper needed grooming. I usually brushed him myself, but it had gotten out of control due to my cancer diagnosis and treatment. This would be his first time at a groomer. I asked my vet to recommend someone and they recommended a groomer close to my house. I spoke to the young man on the phone and he seemed nice and knowledgeable. I made an appointment, and Jasper and I walked into the groomer's lobby on time. He was afraid to be there, being his first time, but the woman groomer took his leash and coaxed him back into the grooming area. I felt terrible leaving him there with strangers, but I Ithought it was only because he hadn't been at a groomer before and it was natural anxiety for him. Around 4 pm the woman groomer called me to pick him up. When I arrived, Jasper was lying down with his hind legs splayed out on either side of him, a way of lying down he had never done before. He was happy to see me and drank from a bowl of water. The woman groomer clipped on his leash and tried to get him up. He would not stand. I opened the gate and walked back to Jasper to get him up, but he couldn't get up. His hind legs would not go underneath him to stand. I tried lifting his hindquarters (maybe the floor was too slick?), but he couldn't stand on them. Jasper walked into the groomer, but he couldn't walk out of the groomer. My cousin was with me, and the two groomers and the two of us put Jasper onto a blanket and carried him to my van, put him in the van, and I drove to the emergency vet clinic about 20 minutes away. The vet admitted him, where he stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. They tried a variety of treatments on him to help him stand, but he never did again. They took photos of his belly around his penis area, his hind legs and his feet, which were covered with bruises and cuts and scrapes. The vet said she had never seen so many of those types of injuries on a dog who had just been at a groomer's. They told me he would never walk again. My 150 lb., beautiful Jasper was euthanized on his third day at the vet. I still am devastated about Jasper's treatment by the groomer and his death. The vet sent me their photos and said they would be willing to testify in court concerning his injuries. I had Jasper since he was a puppy and he died at 8 years old. He was gentle and kind to other animals, enjoyed people and was a huge fluffy teddy bear. I'm asking for funds to cover his vet bills. I'm also considering legal action against the groomer since there's never been any apology or taking any responsibility for what they did.

What did they do? I don't know, but whatever it was, it led to the death of my dog. I worry that they are continuing similar behavior toward other dogs, and I don't want anyone else to lose their beloved four-legged family members in this way. Thank you for any help you're able to share.
