Medical bills
Donation protected
I am setting up this fund in hopes to take some worry away for a wonderful family that is coping with a new normal and trying to navigate through all the medical bills. Arianna is such a bright light and an amazing cheerleader with an uncertain future ahead of her.
In January, while preparing for an overseas trip, Arianna received the Covid booster and Typhoid vaccine. Within 24hrs of the injection, Arianna started having complications and in a few days, was rushed to Riley children’s hospital emergency department. She has since been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, where the nervous system malfunctions creating intense nerve pain in limbs and other parts of the body. There is no cure.
Arianna began having extreme pain and loss of mobility, feeling, and temperature changes in her left arm and leg shortly after the vaccines. Arianna has spent about 6 weeks in the hospital trying to manage the pain and regain use of her left leg (she has regained the use of her left arm) and has endured numerous medications, a nerve block, and finally, and epidural. She completed her hospital stay in rehab to learn to walk again and manage pain flares. The doctors submitted an adverse reaction for the Covid vaccine due to her very rare complications (the reactions were attributed to the Covid booster than Typhoid).
While the chronic, intense nerve pain is managed since the epidural, the pain flares are extreme and no pain meds (outside the hospital) relieve it. She has to rely on distractions and relaxation techniques to manage her condition at 10 years old. This is in addition to spending countless days in the hospital, away from all her friends and family due to Covid restrictions at the hospital. So the comfort and support during her hospital stay was limited to immediate family as she, and her family, navigated this rare condition and learned to manage it in isolation.
Arianna needs specialized therapy, which may require her to travel to Cincinnati or Cleveland Clinic. Not only have her parents had to take a lot of time off work, but the medical bills are coming in quickly with no end in sight for how long treatments will take (the condition is so rare and unpredictable). Arianna is slowly getting better, but I wanted to help relieve the burden of these unexpected bills, and allow the family the ability to focus on Arianna and her treatments. The money could also be used for the travel costs that will occur once a plan is made for Arianna to get more specialized treatment outside of her outpatient treatment.
Arianna is such a bright light and a wonderful little girl. She has been so strong and brave through this whole process she has been with my daughter for a couple of years in cheer. I can’t wait for her to be able to cheer again without any limitations or pain. Any amount that you were able to donate would be greatly appreciated and use toward the goal of getting her back on the mats! If you’re unable to donate, that’s OK too. Prayers are greatly appreciated, thank you!
