FREDDIE'S FIGHT
FREDDIE'S FIGHT...that says it ALL. Like so many who have contracted this, Freddie has been fighting for his life since testing positive for Covid on July 19th. On Saturday July 24th, he was admitted to the hospital with Covid and pneumonia. As his condition became worse, on July 27th he was moved to the Covid ICU unit and placed on a ventilator. Freddie was FIGHTING!! Even sedated, he extubated himself twice in the first week of being in ICU.
It's August 26th, Freddie is now in his 30th day of being intubated. Freddie, WE HAVE YOUR BACK, it's our turn to fight for you. So many people have been saying prayers for you! Many friends have asked how they can help! Because of the extraordinary care needed and Freddie's current situation, the family is now asking for financial support for Freddie. His mom, Michaela, is the type who wouldn't normally ask for help. But is asking for help for her beloved son, Freddie.
Freddie is “my third son from another mother”. He's 23 years old and our family has known him since he was in grade school. He was in my youngest son's grade, on little league football team together, they did safety patrol together, later in high school they were on the wrestling team, Freddie was on the high school bowling team with my older son, and all three worked at the same grocery store for a period.... lifelong buddies in the making. Freddie even knew the garage door code to our house: )
As far back as I can remember, Freddie wanted to be in Law Enforcement. It wavered little as he talked about being an MP in the military to a Sheriff someday. Like so many in law enforcement, this was his calling. Freddie's hard work and determination paid off when his dream came true two years ago August 23rd. He became Officer Freddie Castro #1160 with the Overland Park Police Department in Overland Park, Kansas. This, after working a couple of years with the Overland Park Motorist Assist, getting city experience and waiting until he was old enough to join the department.
Freddie is a loving son, a brother, grandson, cousin, devoted uncle, nephew and friend. He is one of the Good Guys in the book of life. On behalf of Freddie and his family, please consider giving a donation for Freddie's Fight. Please pray for Freddie and his family as he continues his journey.
