Help us keep a roof over our heads!
I'm a single mother to a son who just turned two, and our family also includes a cat and two guinea pigs. I'm currently unemployed, and at the start of the year I got a placement with a view to getting me back out into work, which was great until I got too sick to complete my placement. Life since then has been non-stop stress (which just makes my as-yet-undiagnosed symptoms worse!) of living with constant pain, arguing with healthcare providers who don't listen and getting bounced around different instances to try to find out who is supposed to help us out until I can work again. Which apparently no one wants to do...
For the past 3 months I have not had the income to pay rent, and barely enough to pay for other essentials like electricity, phone, food. I had approached my landlord to explain the situation and as far as I knew we had an understanding for the moment. Until suddenly a couple of days ago I got an eviction notice out of the blue. Legally, if I can pay off the backrent within 3 weeks I will get my contract on our apartment back, if not I have to leave in 3 weeks. Thing is, we have absolutely nowhere to go and we love living here; my son loves his playschool which is closeby and my neighbours are friendly and helpful which takes so much stress out of being a lone mother. With nowhere to go, leaving would also mean having to rehome our four-legged family members on short notice.
Now, I have managed to borrow part of the sum from relatives and I have no idea where to get the rest from within the timeframe I have. There have been a few friends wanting to help out though so that's why I'm setting this up, hoping to somehow scrape together the funds to stay in a home we love until I can sort my health out and get life back on track.
I make one promise to those able to help out: I WILL with 100% certainty pay it forward once I can afford to.
The goal amount is for the outstanding sum I owe and have to pay off by June 24th in order to keep my apartment. This includes backrent for two months and the processing/late fees that have been added now. That is what donations will go towards first. In the event that we raise money over the goal amount, donations will then go towards paying future rent (ca 500 euro a month - getting an extra month's rent would be GREAT), and healthcare bills in my fight to get a diagnosis and medication. When/if I get backpaid benefits owed and financial stuff is sorted, I will donate the sum to other causes (suggestions as to what I should donate to are welcome). Donations will be turned off when I no longer need any more, so if they're still open, we still need help.
