Disabled veteran with PTSD

On October 2nd 2020, my finance of 7 years regretfully lost his battle with PTSD that he had brought back with him from his two combat tours.  Within the constant war in his head there were good days and bad days. Unfortunately on this day the mental scars of war took him over leading to a domestic violence situation. After he asulted me in the garage I called 911. Which lead to a 22 hour police stand off.  16 of those hours he held our two infant children hostage, ages 2years old and 6months old . Once he finally released them,  SWAT started shooting every single window in our home full of tear gas. A few minutes later a fire broke out which destroyed our home and EVERYTHING in it including  our 3 animals.  After the fire was extinguished I soon learned that the cause of Jason's death was a self infected gun shot wound. He did not have life insurance, and we were not married at the time of death, therefore our children and I are not entitled to anything.  We lost everything.
