The Year 11s celebrate their Bishop Luffa Journey!
Welcome to the gofundme page for the Bishop Luffa Year 11 Prom 2024.
If you find yourself here, you most likely have a child in Year 11 or know one and hope to help the school put on the best Prom yet for them!
If you are a parent or carer of a child in the lower years, this is an event that your child will also get to experience and enjoy in due course. The Bishop Luffa Parents & Friends Association raises money throughout the year in order to provide funds to create events, experiences or fund equipment that all of our children at Bishop Luffa will have an opportunity to benefit from in some way.
The Year 11 Prom is one such event that is funded by the PFA and organised in collaboration with the school. In 2021, Proms had to relocate to a marquee on the field due to Covid restrictions. This is one of the rare benefits to come out of that difficult time. Holding the Prom in the marquee has made the event even more popular with the Year 11s to celebrate the culmination of their school life so a collective decision was made to successfully continue this in 2022 and 2023 despite the additional cost.
As parents and carers we all agree that we just cannot go back to trying to squeeze all the Year 11’s into the Bartlett Hall. But of course, a marquee comes at a considerable cost, and those costs, like everything else, keep on rising.
It is of great importance to the PFA that this now hugely popular event is accessible to every Year 11 student each year with ticket prices kept low by an ongoing Prom top-up fund. Given that the Year 11s have the matter of GCSEs to contend with, we do not want to burden them each year with the pressures of fundraising to cover any shortfalls.
The PFA sadly is too few in numbers that it is difficult for those already committed to catering for many various events to take on additional responsibilities of fundraising. Each year some parents and carers express a willingness to make a small financial contribution to try to narrow the gap between the marquee hire and PFA funds available so our Year 11 children have wonderful celebratory evening to remember. This has led to creation of this gofundme page.
There is no obligation to donate but if a large number of parents and carers could spare a few pounds to help us reach our target it would be very gratefully appreciated by everyone involved in putting on this event and by all of our children attending.
