Support The CHS "Ride To Honor" Volunteer Service Scholarship Program

Cedarville High School was established in 1917. During the past 100 years, many CHS graduates have served honorably as volunteers in the US Armed Forces, as first responders, or as volunteers in many other areas of service.
To honor CHS veterans and volunteers, I, along with my riding partner, Joe, will be riding our bicycles from Sewell, NJ, to Cedarville, OH, a distance of approximately 650 miles during the summer of 2018.  I have titled the trip, the "Ride To Honor."
The Cedar Cliff School District's Board of Education has approved the  "Ride To Honor" campaign.  Through this GoFundMe site I am respectfully asking for your support and donations.

Your contributions will be used to create and fund a scholarship program titled "The Baldwin/Turner Volunteer Service Scholarship, Sponsored by the Cedarville High School Class of 1978."

The "Volunteer Service Scholarship" is named in honor of CHS alum Scott Baldwin -- a volunteer firefighter and Cedarville's first full-time fire chief, and PFC William Brent Turner, a USMC veteran killed in action in Vietnam in 1970.

I am asking for your support with flat-sum donations, 100% of which will go toward creating and funding what I hope will become an annual scholarship program.

A board of directors has been established to oversee the process of awarding scholarships to deserving CHS seniors, based on a pre-determined number of validated community service hours performed,  and on an essay written about the importance of volunteer service.

I am promoting the "Ride To Honor" on the CedarCliffConnects Facebook page , my personal Facebook page , my Twitter account, and via a local media campaign in and around the Cedarville area. I would appreciate not only your donations, but your support in spreading the word about the ride and funding the scholarship campaign.

The ride will begin in Sewell, NJ, on August 24th and will end at 12noon on Saturday, Sept. 1st, just hours before the Class of '78's 40th annual class reunion.  I am inviting and encouraging anyone to ride with me -- either the full ride or short sections, especially the last few miles along the bike path from London, South Charleston, or even nearer to Cedarville.  I will ensure the last few miles are at a pace anyone of any level can ride comfortably.

It would be great to show our support for our veterans and volunteers with a large group of riders peddling into Cedarville together in support of our local volunteers!

Please note that your donations will be distributed through the The Cedar Cliff Education Foundation, as a component of the Greene County Community Foundation Greene Endowment   The Green  County Community Foundation is a non-profit Ohio corporation, exempt from taxation under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3), a public charity described in section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Code, and accordingly an appropriate institution to make contributions for a scholarship. Contributions by corporations and individuals are tax deductible to the extent of the law.

For contributions less than $250.00 donors only need to retain a cancelled check, a receipt from the website of the Greene County Community Foundation or some other reliable written record. Substantiation rules apply when individuals contribute $250.00 or more. In the latter cases, a timely acknowledgment will come from the Greene County Community Foundation.

I am respectfully asking for your supporting dollars to honor CHS veterans and volunteers.

Respectfully
David Luttenberger, Class of 1978
