Send Claire to Costa Rica

I am Claire Smiddy, 16 years old, and a junior in high school. Not long ago, an opportunity arose for me to go on a missions trip to San Jose, Costa Rica.  I decided to act on the opportunity and this will be my first trip out of the country (and even my first plane ride!) I’m very excited to be able to serve the Lord in whatever way I am able in Central America. The money will be used to cover meals, accommodations, and airfare for the trip.

What I will be doing:

·         Hosting Children’s Clubs

·         Performing concerts for the community

·         Assisting a local organization with light construction work

·         Volunteering in an outreach program

·         Delving into the culture. I will get the chance to go into the open air markets and check out the sights in the San Jose area.

          On the last day I will get to experience a Catamaran cruise. I’ll be sailing to Tortuga Island where I will get to participate in a snorkeling tour and swim off the beach.

          I’ve participated in many in-state service projects before, but have always found myself wanting to reach further and gain new experiences that are out of my comfort zone. This will give me an opportunity to serve others, helping them see the light of our Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as strengthening my own faith.

            For the next few months I will be working hard to raise money for this trip. I need to raise it all by the middle of January.
