Mia Tan's Graduation Film

My name is Mia Tan and I am raising funds for my Bond University Graduation film!

It is my absolute dream to bring this story to life, but to do so I'm going to need a little help...

My film, A Mountain To Remember, is inspired by my relationship with my sister. It is a 10 minute drama film about dealing with grief and sister bonds.

THE STORY

Aimee and her older sister, Macy, reunite to spread a family member’s ashes at the top of a mountain. In the past, they were inseparable and would often climb the mountain together. However, Macy’s mental illness motivated Aimee to move away from home, separating the sisters. It’s the first time they have seen each other or walked the mountain together in years, and their fragile relationship quickly surfaces. Aimee, struggling with grief and resentment, takes her pain out on Macy. Contrastingly, Macy does her best to stay positive, encouraging Aimee to be grateful for life and appreciate the beauty around them.

As the hike becomes more challenging, tension rises. When it seems that their relationship is beyond repair, Aimee stumbles over a fallen tree. The urn crashes to the ground, cracking open, as does their relationship. Aimee lashes out, blaming Macy for the spilled ashes and her underlying emotions relating to why the sisters grew apart. Through the fight, the sisters find that despite the time separated, they still have more in common than once believed. They reconnect through tears and bittersweet laughter. Together, they reach the mountain peak and realise that their sisterhood and family memories will last forever.
