Jamie's Journey - The Quest for a Cure

Hey guys :)

My name is Jamie Lee and 4 years ago I tested gene positive for Huntington's Dis-ease.

Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a rare genetic condition that causes the breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. This progressively removes the individual's ability to walk, talk, eat and think and ultimately leads to death. It is a terrible, debilitating disease that has already claimed the lives of my dad, my auntie, my poppy and many others in our family tree.

Unfortunately, according to statistics, it’s predicted that my years of quality life are approaching the end far quicker than I would like.

At present, there is no known cure for HD. However, I truly believe that given the right mindset and determination the human body can cure any disease or illness. And that's exactly what I intend to do.

I am raising money to help fund my healing journey and save my life from ending this way. I refuse to wait around for symptoms to arise. I am going to do something about it - because I’m stubborn like that. Those of you that know me know that I’d give pretty much anything a go at least once. Well, that’s what I’m doing - giving this a go. Because what other option do I have?

I’m doing this. I’m healing myself. I’m certain of it. So, how do I intend to do this?

The Plan:

I will dive further into the realm of alternative healing to eradicate this gene mutation within my body so I may live a long and healthy life. I’ve spent a significant amount of time researching and practising many alternative therapies and I’m now ready to dive deeper into this fascinating world of possibilities.

My first step, with my incredible boyfriend Kev by my side to support me, I will travel to the Peruvian Jungle to partake in ancient plant medicine therapies. The indigenous peoples of the Amazon have been using native plant medicine for over a thousand years for healing purposes and spiritual growth. I am currently in close contact with some wonderful plant medicine facilitators in Peru and I have strong reason to believe that this is where my healing will begin. This step alone could take up to several months.

My intentions afterwards are to continue travelling to places where particular healing modalities are more accessible so that I may carry on with my quest for a cure. With such practices currently unavailable in Australia and other western countries, I must travel to these places to get the most authentic experience with the utmost specialists in their respective fields.

To stay fully present during each stage of my healing, I will take the journey one step at a time. Keeping the next step open will allow me to eliminate distractions and remain fully focused during my time in the Peruvian Jungle.

I am already being guided and my healing has already begun.

These therapies are not cheap, nor is travelling to them. That is why I’m doing one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do - ask for help. I stubbornly thought at first that I could conquer this all alone without burdening anyone. I now realize that it’s okay to ask for help and I’ll need all the support I can get if I’m to succeed in my quest.

Your positive vibes and generosity mean the world to me, I can’t even tell you! I really cannot express my gratitude enough! This alone will give me the strength to get through more potential dark days and hurdles ahead.

I have no expectations, however, if you feel at all called to donate I would be eternally grateful.

The initial target is an estimate, however, the more funds raised the more options at my disposal. A percentage of proceeds will be donated to local communities where in need - because I believe in paying it forward.

Additionally, I have decided to video document my experiences in the hopes that it may inspire others on their own healing journeys.

If you've been following along with my journey on Instagram, you may be aware that my healing journey is well underway. What I've learned about this dis-ease during my time in the jungle is truly fascinating.

My time in the Amazon has been incredibly profound and extremely challenging. The healing I’ve received so far has been beyond anything I could have imagined.

I have so much gratitude for this sacred medicine and those who have been by my side during this time.

The next step of my journey has brought me to the Sacred Valley, Peru where my healing continues.

Again, I am so eternally grateful for your continued support and belief in me.
