Help Lou beat cancer
Donation protected
Hi there, this is Alexis raising funds for my dear spouse Lou. Lou was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin Lymphoma. He is stage 4 because it has spread to his bones. While this is a devasting diagnosis, his doctors estimate he has a 90-95% chance of cure. We'll bet on those odds!
However, we have a challenging road ahead with 6 months of biweekly chemotherapy. We were told by our care team that some people don't experience extreme side effects and work throughout chemo, but it varies from person to person. This is what we were hoping for, but now that Lou has completed his second treatment we're realizing this won't be possible. He has been experiencing debilitating side effects, and by the time he starts to recover, he's only days away from his next treatment.
Unfortunately, he does not have short-term disability coverage, and his cancer is not covered by Oregon disability. This puts considerable stress on our family, paying for treatment on top of living solely off of my income. I want Lou to be able to focus on his health and not worry about lost income and medical debt. Anyone that knows Lou knows he is stubborn, hates being told what to do, and will do anything for the ones he loves. I am doing everything in my power to keep him from muscling through and jeopardizing his health.
We're both very uncomfortable asking for help, especially financially, but we are here swallowing our pride. We are posting other ways to help on our Caring Bridge site if you'd like to donate your time instead. Thank you for reading and being here for us. We love you all so much!
