Teddy's Top Surgery

Ello there, I'll keep this short!

 

My name is Teddy (they/them) and I am a 22 year old Musical Theatre actor living in London!

 

Some of you may know that I have been looking to get Top Surgery for quite a while now, however today (3/12/21) I finally was able to book a consultation and get a quote for the price of surgery! For the past year and a half I have been wearing a binder (used to bind and flatten the chest to minimise its outward appearance) whilst this has been an excellent way to improve my self confidence, it was only a temporary solution. Binding can be very dangerous whilst singing or performing any sort of physical activity - so whilst it can provide gender euphoria, the majority of the time I am unable to bind because of my career. Top Surgery is expensive and the wait times are long, but the procedure itself is absolutely life changing. The surgery can be done by the NHS but the wait times are ridiculously long, with the initial appointment wait time being around 3 years.

 

Some days, body dysmorphia can be very overwhelming, so much so that I have had to leave class, because of the struggle to be in front of a mirror. The thought of never having to wear a binder again absolutely blows my mind and would completely change my outlook on daily life.

 

The funds from this campaign will be going towards the surgery itself (£7,700) and consultation (£300).

 

I'm really luck to be having Mr Christopher Inglefield perform the surgery, an incredibly experienced surgeon!
