The Alison Ricker Memorial Climate Action Fund
Donation protected
Alison Ricker served her community in so many ways. One of those ways was her volunteer work with Citizens' Climate Lobby, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization aiming to create the political will for a livable world. Alison was a group leader of the Lorain County, Ohio chapter of CCL and also served as a Congressional liaison. She traveled to Washington, DC to CCL's national conference on numerous occasions, attending many meetings with members of Congress to advocate for federal climate action.
We are raising money to honor her legacy of climate activism. The first $200 we raise will go towards planting a tree in Cleveland, in a neighborhood without adequate tree canopy, through the Tribute Tree program of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy. This is an act of environmental justice, as urban areas--often the same areas racially segregated by redlining--can be 10 to 15 degrees hotter than their suburban counterparts on hot summer days. The next $500 we raise will send a local volunteer to CCL's national conference in Washington, DC, to meet with members of Congress and advocate for federal climate solutions. Money we raise beyond that will be divided between these two projects, as decided by the Lorain County chapter of CCL.
Thank you for helping us to honor Alison's memory, and the legacy of community service she created to inspire us all.
