Support Ruth's Legacy: The Guide

Families around the globe have been touched by Ruth’s philosophy. She has changed the course of people’s lives, interrupted cycles of violence, and created language and action in the name of uplifting children. Ruth’s healing journey was an invitation to anyone she connected with to heal alongside her.

Ruth’s work evolved over time and just before the pandemic, a group of parent educators gathered to appreciate and celebrate Ruth, her impact, and how she connected all of us in philosophy and activism of nonviolence in child raising. In that meeting we began imagining how we extend and preserve Ruth’s legacy. The pandemic changed the trajectory of that project. A small, committed group began to meet regularly, drafting a training, and later supporting Ruth in the writing, editing, and creation of her curriculum or as Ruth called it “The Guide.”

A Compassionate Guide to Parenting with Nonviolence was recently completed. Through careful edits, updated to account for new research, the Guide expanded to include the entire nervous system, Covid, an integrated practice of social justice advocacy, and more. The Guide has been a labor of love, a document that holds Ruth’s legacy and something she could not wait to release. She was so excited about this project! Ruth wanted it to be a “Living Document” that would change and evolve with regular updates, new ideas, and groundbreaking research- all of this through the anchoring philosophy of nonviolence, empathy, and power with children.

This fund will help fulfill the dream Ruth imagined. Completing the design and publishing of The Guide, and later supporting the creation of a training experience, and finally building out a home for her deeply powerful work.

It feels fitting that the next step is an invitation for her beloved community to have a stake in launching The Guide into the world.
