A Safe Home for Beth and Mom
Hello friends and family!
We are moving to Ohio! Mom and I are preparing to move out-of-state to be closer to family members as we navigate our health challenges. We both have chronic illnesses that have affected our ability to make this a “do-it-yourself” move, so over the last year we’ve worked hard to reduce what needs to be moved - organizing, donating, and trashing what we can. But the big push? Well, we could really use some help to fund moving help to get us from Michigan to our new home.
We are planning to move into a budget-friendly, safe, and accessible living space that not only fits our current needs, but has the kind of location and resources that will be flexible if either of us gets better or worse. We will be close to an outstanding medical center, and it’s critical at this point in our lives to be close to family, so, Ohio, here we come!
Yes, we need help for the final push, but we are really excited about the opportunities our new living situation will provide. The new neighborhood has lots of accessible parks where we can walk safely even during Covid. Living with chronic illness means that symptoms can sometimes vary in intensity, and our new neighborhood brings with it the infrastructure we will need in times of crisis and the resources to keep healing and branch out when that is possible.
SPECIFICS OF WHY WE NEED SUPPORT:
Having the right family and structural support will help Mom and I stay safe and independent as much as possible, which is good for both of us. This move comes with many challenges both physical and cognitive that are nearly impossible for me to navigate without additional funds to pay for help for the move. The money that you donate will help:
- Pay for movers
- Allow us to lease a handicap accessible apartment
- Pay for a moving company to safely load and transport belongings
- Cover a rental deposit that is in addition to the monthly rent
Your gift, no matter how small, will have a real impact on me and my mother’s life… And anyone who knows me knows that I will pay that love, support, and joy forward to others as soon as I am able.
