The sudden passing of our dad Eddie Lara, known as Ollie to his family, has left all who knew and loved him with a deep ache in their hearts.
Our dad was always the life of the party. He would say, “Age is just a number, it’s all about how young you feel inside.” Whether he was telling a joke, or pulling you onto the dance floor at a Lara gathering, his goal was to spread joy to those around him; he just wanted to make us laugh and see us all smile. He also understood the value of hard work. From the age of 16 until his retirement at age 61, Dad worked hard to support himself and provide for his family. He spent 35 years working for the school district, beloved by his colleagues and the students, and he took immense pride in his work. His neighbors shared stories about how my dad would bring home leftover school lunches to give to their children, and expressed how much they appreciated his kindness. Dad wouldn’t think twice about giving anything he had to others; his generous spirit was limitless. Family was the most important thing in the world to Dad. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son. He will be missed.
Any donations to the family during this difficult time are greatly appreciated.
