Reclaim Slope Day: A Celebration for All Cornell Students
Donation protected
Cornell’s Slope Day is meant to be the highlight of every Cornell student’s semester. It is a time where the entire student body can come together and celebrate the closing of the academic year, the memories they made, and the friendships that they have formed, all while taking in an amazing performance by a spectacular artist! Unfortunately, Cornell has given a platform to a performer who has actively utilized her following to spread hateful messaging, thereby turning this year’s Slope Day into a place that no longer supports “any person”. Kehlani has utilized her platform to publicly call for the “intifada” and to “dismantle Israel”, both on social media and in a music video that go far beyond political critique.
Therefore, we students wish to create a new Slope Day programming in the way it was meant to be carried out: fostering unity and creating a place for all students. We are hoping to raise funds in order to bring a performer who does not actively engage in hate speech towards Jews and is also more entertaining and phenomenal! We hope to raise a huge sum in order to put on a Slope Day performance that no Cornell student will forget and to show those who are against us that they cannot win! We appreciate any and all support in this effort!
Am Yisrael Chai!
***Disclaimer: We would like to point out that it is possible that we will not reach our goal, given that the goal is so high and that this production is extremely difficult to carry out in such a short time frame. If the performance is not able to come to fruition, we will use any funds which we raise to help combat campus antisemitism and to help put on many more Pro-Israel events on campus in the future!
