Life always throws challenges. Some challenges are bigger than others. It is a part of life. We, as people, have to accept it. This summer, in June, my life had a major change. I received news my father, Aaron Bauman, was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver. For those who do not know anything about cancer, it is the worst type of cancer. It has received the nickname "silent killer" over the years. Like an other diagnosis, there have been hiccups along the journey. Aaron, is determined to fight this. He has not given up and says he will not give up. His favorite quote to live by is, "stay on course". No matter what the circumstance is, everyone must continue to live their life normally. Dad, being a fighter, is still continuing to work. It is a part of who he is and cancer cannot take that away from him. Not only does he still work, he still loves and he still laughs. I am so proud of how strong my dad has been. Not only as a dad, but as a husband, a brother, a coworker, a partner, a family member and a friend. His strength both mentally and physically is contagious. As this gets harder on everyone, everyone needs support from each other. Whether it is a simple smile, a laugh, a hug, a hello, a donation, or a prayer, every little bit counts. Dad is only 40 and has a lot to live for. Help us aim for a cure.
