Celebrate Jonathan and Help Revitalize Åsbacka

Jonathan Horwitz has spent much of his life in service, helping others through spiritual guidance, shamanic healing and inspiring teaching.

 

Now Jonathan is having a milestone birthday! On Sunday 12 Dec 2021 he turns 80!

At this stage of his life, Jonathan does not wish to accumulate material objects. He already has so much and wants to live in a lighter way. What would really mean a lot to him is to receive donations that help Åsbacka to keep going.

Jonathan has been giving generously for many years: shamanic healing, guidance, teaching, community building and holding ceremonies in many countries. One of his key principles is that the Shaman asks for help. Now he and Zara need your help.

 

Åsbacka, in southern Sweden, is Jonathan’s heart home. He was guided by the Spirits to become its keeper in 2006. He has lived here with Zara since 2007, and together they run it as a small shamanic retreat center.

 

It has always been a simple place and has needed much renovation through the years. Last year the Bastu (bathhouse) had to be completely rebuilt and the many small wooden cabins need constant care and maintenance.
 
Due to the pandemic, Åsbacka has been closed to visitors for a while. This has helped us to take stock of what is calling to be done. Before opening up, two of the guest cottages, Vinkelstugan and Lillistugan, are in need of substantial renovations.

Vinkelstugan needs a part-new ceiling, renovated kitchens, a new bathroom, hot water installation and updated plumbing. Lillistugan needs a new ceiling and extensive work to fix damp and moisture damage. It is going to cost at least 250 000 SEK, roughly 25 000 Euros or 27 000 USD. We hope most of the work will be done during Spring 2022, or by the end of 2022.

 

Åsbacka is fortunate to have a local ecological building company doing the renovations. Snickar-Franck cares for old houses in an earth-friendly way, bring creative ideas on how to use spaces, re-use old materials, and find clean solutions.

 

This fundraiser will remain open until 2 Feb 2022. After this, updates will be sent to donors on how the work is progressing. When it is completed, Jonathan & Zara will hold a Thanksgiving Ceremony with Åsbacka, recognizing all who have helped make the restoration possible.
