Aayush Gurung University Fundraisers
Hello everyone!
My name is Aayush Gurung . I am profoundly deaf. I am from Nepal but i have been living in the UK for nearly 5 years.
Welcome to my Go Fund Me campaign page.
Please take your time just only 10 minutes to read my story through BSL version or written English and donate me, please.
First of all, Why did I create this page?
I have been offered a place to study BA Accounting and Finance at Bournemouth University and BSc accounting and finance at Oxford Brookes University but I have decided to study at Bournemouth University. Unfortunately, I can’t apply for student loans and DSA (Disabled student allowance) due to my immigration status. What this means is that I have a Limited Leave To Remain with no public funds. I can’t claim for any loans, benefits and financial sources from the UK government. I have to self-fund international fees and supports fees. My parents have low incomes, so they cannot afford university. I am not sure about what I do. I have realised that Go Fund Me would be a good idea. I am not sure because self-promotion is not a natural thing for me. However, luckily, my parents, uncle and teacher of the deaf have really supported, believed in and encouraged me to build my confidence. I am setting up a Go Fund Me campaign page to ask you all for the donations so that I can go to university.
Why have I chosen Bournemouth University?
Having achieved AAT advanced diploma in accounting – level 3 have made me realise how much I love accounting. I would love to study further most modules of BA Accounting and Finance course, which will enable me to track on my future career in the financial sector.
It would also be cheaper for me because I will live at home in Blandford Forum, meaning that I can easily travel to Bournemouth to study. Therefore, I don’t have to pay accommodation and maintenance expenses.
What does the target £24000 cover?
Tuition fees are £14100. I am an international student due to my immigration status.
British Sign Language interpreters/note-takers are £7800. I am deaf who rely on British Sign Language and have no speech. I need BSL interpreters/note-takers at university as a equality of opportunity.
Books, equipments (laptop and printer) and travel are £2100.
What does the campaign mean to me?
Since moving to the UK, I have been keen to learn English and BSL, which differ considerably from Nepalese and NSL. As a Nepalese deaf person, I have worked so hard to achieve reasonable grades in A levels business and mathematics plus GCSE English Language for university. However, I will never give up when I face many barriers. All your donations will definitely help me to achieve my dreams. I would like to show students who have barriers to going to university due to the finance, could achieve their target through GoFundMe.
Please donate me. It doesn’t matter how much you could donate me. It doesn’t matter if your donation is too small or too big. All your donations would definitely be much appreciated.
Many thanks
