Hurricane Relief for Marsh Harbour

Hurricane Dorian will be forever known as the one of the worst catastrophes to ever roll through the Bahamas. Marsh Harbour was obliterated as if it were hit by a massive bomb. Even now today, the ground is a wasteland strewn with blankets, clothes, refrigerators, shoes, splintered plywood, toilets, and overturned cars and boats. Many people died as a result of this awful storm, and still hundreds are unaccounted for. 

Many have evacuated never to return, there is no home left to go back to. There is a group of strong survivors however, that have stayed. They’re Bahamians and refuse to give up their paradise, it’s all they know. LYDIA HILL is among the strong here working tirelessly, day and night often on two to three hours sleep, to help rebuild their homes, churches, and schools. Tourism drives this community. Without it, and without our help, Abaco may never fully bounce back. 

For those of us that know Lydia, she’s been a great friend to many of us, and we’ve relied on her and her staff’s expertise at Abaco Vacation Planner  for making possible some incredible Bahamas vacations over the last decade.  

Lydia and a group of her friends and family are working hard as we speak to try and rebuild their homes, lives, and community. Times are desperate and the time is now for us to rise up and help them. 

100% of your donations will go towards helping Lydia and her team get back on their feet and begin rebuilding. They desperately need basic supplies just to live on. They truly are in survival mode. Food, water, clothing, shoes, tools, medical supplies, gas, pet food, the list goes on. Then there’s the labor required to somehow bring back normalcy; plumbers, electricians, carpenters, cleaning crews, etc. The task at hand is to rebuild the infrastructure from the ground up. 

Granted it’s just not possible for most of us to physically jump on a boat and run supplies to Marsh Harbour, but we are able to offer the much needed financial assistance to help them move in the right direction.
