Abbie Bikes Britain A National Project for Change

Donation protected

What?
In late summer 2021 Abbie Barnes cycled from Dunnet Head and John O Groats to The Lizard Point and Lands End, via each of the UK's 15 National Parks and their highest peaks.

This epic 55 day expedition saw Abbie and her partner Anna (who drove the support van) travel over 2000 miles and battle mental ill health, chronic pain, and a number of unanticipated life-challenges along the way. Yet the duo completed this life-changing venture and now have a 3-part film series on YouTube following the highs and lows of their journey.

The purpose of Abbie Bikes Britain was to raise awareness about how:
- our green spaces need protecting
- community saves lives
- mental health matters
- our stories deserve to be heard.

What’s Next?

Abbie Bikes Britain was never going to be a dead-end project, but rather a limb in the overall body that is Spend More Time In The WILD. If you enjoyed these films and would like to support WILD on our mission please feel free to offer a small donation via our GoFundMe Page.
100% of donations go towards actioning positive change across the planet.

Why?

We are on a mission to create lasting change.

By travelling the length and breadth of the country we have created a National campaign that initiates meaningful conversations about the importance of getting outside into green spaces for the benefit of mental and physical health, and what we can all do to protect them.

We want to not only see people access our nation's green spaces for their wellbeing, but to step up to playing an active role in conserving them too. Why? Because being kind and getting involved in something bigger than ourselves can help to increase feelings of happiness, wellbeing, and life satisfaction for people of all ages.

Next Steps

Abbie Bikes Britain was by no means a shiny expedition with bells and whistles. In fact it was quite the opposite, with second hand bikes, a self-funded van hire, and cheap meals on the road. The team has worked to crowdfund along the way to help offset some of the costs of the project. It must be stressed that this project was never about making money; it is totally non-for-profit.

Abbie and her team are looking for support to fund the final leg of post production for the release of the three films shot during the trip.

If you are able to donate, every penny will go back into the project and the vision of greeting a brighter, greener future for generations to come.
