Abbott of Norcia Australian Friends Gift
Donation protected
On May 25th, 2024, Dom Benedict Nivakoff O.S.B was elected the first Abbott of Norcia Monastery (San Benedetto in Monte, Norcia, Italy).
This is wonderful news for this community of faithful sons of St Benedict, as well as for the whole Catholic faithful, especially those attached to the Usus Antiquior.
The Abbott-elect will require a number of new items. The Latin Mass Society of Australia has been allowed to coordinate an appeal to donate the Pectoral Cross.
The Pectoral Cross (pictured) is an antique cross which was refashioned by the noted Roman Jewellers Savi for the Abbatial Consecration. Restored to its pristine condition, Father Abbot requested the inclusion within it of two important relics: a first class relic of the Holy Cross, and a first class relic of St. Benedict. When advised that the “Aussies” were offering this Pectoral Cross in honour of Card. Pell, the new Abbot was visibly moved and said “I miss him very much”. Requiescat in Pace!
Engraved upon the back of the Pectoral Cross will be:
‘Gifted by the Australian Friends, in memory of H. E. George Cardinal Pell.’
Please donate what you can, your kindness will be remembered at the Altar in Norcia.

Ps. If sufficient funds are raised to pay for the pectoral cross, any additional funds will be used to assist the Monks in the purchase of other items including the Abbatial rings and crozier…
