Darian & Shylah Jr. Olympics
Donation protected
Darian and Shylah are 8 year old twins that both run track for the San Antonio Heat. This is currently their second year of running track. Last year in 2014, as 7 year olds, they just missed out on qualifying for the Jr. Olympics. However during that first year of track they realized that they loved to run.
Over the next year they ran in various 5k runs, kids runs (sponsored by SARR), joined a group called Kids Run SA, and even ran track for Prince of Peace Catholic Church for CYO.
We began doing weekly family runs in an effort to just be an active family. We are always trying to keep up with the twins.
When the current track season began, they learned that this year's Jr. Olympics would be held in Norfolk, VA. Since we have no family in TX (we're from the east coast), they both stated that they'd love to be able to run in VA and have all their family be able to see them.
Well after 4 months of practicing (3-4 days a week) and practice meets, it was time to show and prove. After making it through the district qualifier meet and regional meet, both the twins qualified for the Jr. Olympics.
Darian qualified in the 200, 400, and 800 (a race that he started running 3 weeks ago). Shylah qualified in the 1500 (a race that she literally has run twice).
If you can help us make it to VA from TX, any donation would be appreciated. If you can't make a monetary donation, then please keep these Abbott Kids in your prayers.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
