On Monday, March 24th, 2017, Abelardo Chad ("AB") went to his doctor to have his flu-like symptoms treated but learned that he was sicker than he realized. AB was diagnosed with double pneumonia and sepsis (bacteria in his blood) and was admitted to Kennestone Hospital in their ICU unit.
The doctor's at Kennestone Hospital first thought that AB might have had a tear in his esophagus and was also presenting symptoms of cancer as well. After exploratory surgery, AB was readmitted to the ICU unit for further observation. The surgeon advised that he took 1100cc of puss out of AB's right lung and noticed thousands of nodules in his stomach, due to infection.
AB's doctors placed him on a ventilator to make it easier for him to breathe while placing him in a coma. Once the doctor's decided that they wanted try and ween him off the sedation medication, AB's heart started to beat out of control and out of rhythm. AB has been in a coma since surgery and has been awake only briefly when they have tried to bring him out of his coma.
During this time, the family has been without AB's much needed income and they have incurred many unexpected medical expenses. The prognosis is that AB will have to stay in the ICU unit for an extended period of time. Each of these medical and financial set-backs has placed an extreme amount of stress on the family with an uncertain future. Prayers are always needed and welcome by all. Any monetary assistance with these financial obligations would be greatly appreciated to help this family get back on their feet....won't you lend a helping hand?
