Alex Abroad in Argentina!

I write to you today filled with excitement, motivation, and gratitude -- because I have just been accepted to study abroad in Rosario, Argentina this summer!
My name is Alex Bellizzi, I am a first-year University of Oregon student who has spent (practically) their entire life dreaming of traveling and learning new languages. This summer, a dream becomes reality as I hop on a plane for the first time EVER to leave the country for the first time EVER.
Here at UO, I am pursuing majors in Spanish and Political Science with the ultimate goal of becoming a teacher. Studying abroad in Rosario directly reflects my academic and professional interests; I will be taking courses on Spanish language and human rights in Latin America. I chose this program specifically because it will push me to refine my Spanish at an accelerated rate while studying issues of social justice.
Because I want to become a teacher, I believe gaining bilingual ability is imperative. So many students in the US are denied access to a proper education because they do not speak English as a first language -- I want to help these students.
If I could think of a million ways to explain how excited I am, I would. I'M SO EXCITED!!! Here are some pictures of Rosario to get you excited with me... weee!! :)
-> The Cradle of the Argentine Flag: where the original Argentine flag was originated. The center of town, right next to el río Panará!
-> El Caminito Havanna: local tango hall
-> cool wall art & stuff
This is an opportunity I cannot pass up... and I need some help! The entire trip totals to around $7,000. While this seems daunting, I know it is something we can accomplish together.
I have been working very hard to fund this trip, but the total is simply out of my reach. With that, I will match every donation made to this campaign -- whether that be $1 or $100... and I'm so serious that every donation means the absolute world to me!
Thank you for believing in me and my desire to get out there and learn some Spanish! Your support means more than I can put into words.
