A Bench for Beck

Four-year-old Beck James Myers passed away
unexpectedly on Sunday, April 10. Beck was a
ray of sunshine to all who crossed his path. His kind,
knowing eyes; that blonde hair and huge grin; and his sweet and fun disposition are unforgettable. Since his
passing, the community – our children, neighbors,
teachers, and friends and family, near and far – has
grieved this tremendous loss with the Myers family. Many have lifted up his parents, Vanessa and Ben, and his sister, Milana, with loving thoughts, prayers, letters, cards, and dozens of actions, big and small.
Beck packed a load of fun into his short life. He was like
a little Matchbox car filled with monster truck-sized fun.
One of his favorite hangouts was Depot Park in the
Village of Clarkston. The park is a mecca for littles from throughout the community and just a short walk through town from the Myers’ house. Beck was a regular there, running, climbing, swinging, feeding the ducks, and, a favorite, rolling around in the dirt next to the Merry-Go-Round. Once he was nice and dirty and pleasantly tuckered out, Vanessa would carry her little bird back through town and home again.
Given Beck’s big-time love for Depot Park and his many happy times spent there, we are asking for your support to purchase and install a permanent memorial bench for Beck at Depot Park, right there near the playground where he thrived. The bench will carry a small plaque lovingly inscribed by the Myers in tribute to their sweet boy. It is hoped that, for years to come, those who stop at the bench to rest, refuel, or reflect, will glimpse the joy and wonder Beck created there.
