Hey guys, I'm Abi Worsnop. I'm 19 years old and have been working here at Johnny Huston's for about two years now while I get through nursing school at UWF. At the end of July 2022, I started experiencing extreme pain in my lower back that radiated down my left leg. I ended up in the ER on August 2nd and have been having to jump through all the hoops to start getting some answers for the pain. After months of doctor's appointments and lots of tests, I got diagnosed with severe developmental hip dysplasia in both my hips and am showing signs of degenerative disk disease starting at S1 and L5. Dr. Anz at Andrews institute saw my scans and finally told us how serious it was and that there are only around 5 surgeons in the country he would trust to do the surgery I need, which is a Periacetabular Osteotomy (PAO). Dr. Micheal Ryan in Birmingham Alabama is the closest doctor able to do it. I've been told that if this surgery doesn't work out, the next step would be a total hip replacement which would one day leave me in a wheelchair. I've tried to work through the pain to try to take some of the financial stress off my parents because I watched them do anything and everything to support me and my siblings. My dad has been working 16-hour days my whole life and is now trying to move away for a new job to be able to support me through all of this. Just recently, we decided it was my time to stop working and put my health first, which is hard for me because I will no longer be able to help with any of the medical bills that are rolling in or the hotel stays and rehabilitation away from home. My co-workers came up with a plan to set me up a GoFundMe, where all the funds raised will go to help pay for medical bills, hotel stays, and rehabilitation. We are extremely grateful for our community and for any donations you are willing to put in. Thank you so much!
