Abid Bashir Cancer Foundation (ABCF) Winter Appeal
Abid Bashir, 45 yrs old, lost his battle to Cancer after being diagnosed 6 weeks earlier. In accordance to his dying wishes the Abid Bashir Cancer Foundation (ABCF) was set up.
On the 25th November 2020, Abid would have been 50 years old, a very special milestone in his life. Normally such monumental occasions are marked by loved ones getting together for food and the giving of birthday gifts. For Abid's would be 50th birthday, we want to celebrate his life by doing something a little different.
The ABCF want to gift Winter Care Packages and money to some of the most vulnerable and destitute in our community, the asylum seekers. Asylum seekers get very little support and sometimes have to live on as little as £5.39 a day.
The ABCF have decided that this winter we will carry out a number of initiatives to help asylum seekers in Glasgow & Bolton given the extreme difficulties facing them during the bleak winter months and Covid19.
The first initiative involves help directly from Abid's family. We will provide 50 Winter Care Packages to asylum seekers in Glasgow before Abid's birthday. The Winter Care Packages consist of food, toiletries and Covid19 essentials such as masks, hand sanitizers etc.
Additionally, the ABCF, through Abid’s sister Razvana, will feed asylum seekers and the homeless from a street kitchen in Bolton where we will provide hot food for 50 people. Both these initial efforts will be sourced and entirely funded by Abid’s family and the generosity of a local cash & carry who donated hats, gloves and socks.
However, we still need your help and donations for the ongoing Winter Appeal which is as follows:
GLASGOW:
1. Provide Winter Care Packages consisting of food, toiletries and Covid19 essentials every month until the end of Jan 21.
2. Provide money in the form of emergency grants and halal food vouchers which will be distributed via a local charity/organisation that is helping asylum seekers. The asylum seekers can use this money to buy whatever they need to.
BOLTON:
3. To feed asylum seekers and the homeless from a street kitchen every month until Jan 21.
3. Food will be given to food banks to help the neediest in Bolton.
Please donate generously via the following link:

100% of all donations go to the project with no admin costs.
The primary focus of the ABCF will always be cancer-related initiatives and awareness but we will address other needs of the community as and when they will occur such as the ABCF Winter Appeal.
