Middlesbrough and Cleveland Airborne Veterans 27 May to 4 June
The Branch will be supporting Brynn Hauxwell on his quest to be the youngest person to complete the entire length of Hadrian’s. Wall in his wheelchair. Brynn’s family were original from Stockton and now reside in the Shetlands. Brynn is autistic and has ADHD, severe asthma and fixed ankle contractures, which means he relies on a wheelchair to get around.
Brynn has been supported by Ability Shetland, an organization that supports disabled people to realize their full potential. To show his support and thanks for their help, he has carried out several fundraising events and was duly awarded the Pride of Scotland Young Fundraiser of the Year Award in 2021.
Our Branch will be raising funds to support Bryn in his fundraising efforts and help the Middlesbrough Disabled Supporters in their quest to purchase a new minibus. MDSA has been a great help to our Branch in allowing us to use their current minibus to take our veterans to numerous events over the years.
The Airborne Veterans helped raise a significant amount in 2008 to help with the purchase of their current bus, and with your help, we hope to help them further on their way to achieve their aim and replace their aging transport.
A number of our veterans will be completing part of the Hadrian’s Wall Walk with Brynn, and we will also be providing his party with an Airborne meal. The Branch event will be taking place on the 2 June, by which time Brynn will be well on his way to completing his amazing journey. All funds raised will be divided equally between these two great causes.
Further information about Bryn can be found on Facebook "Breaking Down Barriers with Brynn."
